I just got my second Astrazeneca jab.
Fuck me, this country knows how to mobilise.

Got a text from the surgery two days ago and picked a spot at 2.30 today.

Up at the Royal Free in Hampstead this afternoon they've converted the doctor's basketball court into a mass vaccination unit with lovely volunteers, retired doctors and admin staff. Everything running like clockwork and hundreds of people, black, white and every colour in between getting their jabs. So impressive.

I've read so many times how this country is NEVER ready for a coming conflict, from Napoleon to Hitler (hell even those damn French would have got battered by Harold if he hadn't had to batter the Vikings 300 miles away then march his troops to Dover for another go) but our ability to mobilise and our distribution system must be the envy of the world.

One very proud Englishman here today.

If you're really 'lucky', you may have a similar experience to the fellow discussed here;

Zico - my brother was the same as you. Had his second AZ one and still felt nothing. Who knows? Perhaps I was riddled with COVID at some point over the last 6 months? I know I felt crap all over Xmas but put it down to a bad cold,

But as old skool lads don't worry about these things, Ebola, Nippa virus, syphilis and regular bouts of raging diarrhea. A good hot bath, bottle of whiskey and you're right as rain next morning.

My immune system must be non existent then as bar a sore arm for 10 minutes I oddly experienced no ropeyness at all with my first AZ vaccine. I'll probably make up for that with the second!

*Real men have no issue in necking Heineken by the bucket-load,*

Real men have no issue in necking Hieneken by the bucket-load, so I don't thing ingesting chemicals is the issue.

Maybe the fact that it's free at the point of delivery?

Re: I just got my second Astrazeneca jab.
Apparently / allegedly ( according to my daughter who is a nurse ), the first AZ injection makes you feel a tad rough while its the 2nd one that is more of a problem with the Pfizer one?

Of course, some claim Pfizer is the Dom Perignon while AZ is more "Blue Nun" or Liebfraumilch? I had AZ and felt a bit ropey next day but that supposedly means your immune is reacting well as you either had it or are a weak old man. I suspect my problem was the latter.

Anyway, get those chemicals inside you lads so that you can put more pleasant ones inside you at the pub.

Cheers def. Have to see whether I get into Scotland or not, and I have a few options if places are going to be too mobbed.

simon.s 4:08 Nice one mate!
If you've not done it before do the NC500 although Scotland will be rammed if they let us in as I know lots of people heading that way.

I have a mate with a farm in Wales and a mate who has a couple of villas in Spain as a back up break.

Will the Scots let you in?

Re: I just got my second Astrazeneca jab.
We’ve all good def. The bike sounds a good idea. No real plans for travel I guess either. Got some friends who’ve moved to a small town outside Malaga, wouldn’t mind getting out to see them at some point when possible.

Beyond that, fancy some going to some places up in Scotland, and like the idea of getting the ferry over to Northern Ireland and driving around the coast. I miss the spontaneity of just booking somewhere and fucking off, suppose everyone does. Hopefully that will return.

Re: I just got my second Astrazeneca jab.
One in 25 people hospitalised this year have had the first covid jab. Some of these might have contracted covid shortly prior to being vaccinated but it appears that some carried on as if they were fully immune to being infected immediately upon vaccination dropped their guard and paid for it.

It takes up to three weeks from the first jab to build up reasonable immunity.

simon.s 3:19 - Easy mate, Hope you and your missus are well.

Thanks, But I'm going to play it by ear re: Travel!
My mates in the U.S aren't chasing this year so that might be out, so maybe a jaunt to Thailand or something could happen towards the tail end of the year as my mates there seem to be living the life still.

I've just bought an E mountain bike so plan is to stick it on the back of the car, drive places then explore with my camera gear.
Obviously I NEED storms to chase, last year 90% were up North so I missed out but this year I'm going to try chase everything.

Hope you get to do some travels as well, you got anything planned?

Apart from the fact that we have pretty much the worst figures of any European nation. Don’t get me wrong, getting the deaths and infections out of the way quickly was clearly our objective from the start.

Re: I just got my second Astrazeneca jab.
Anyone who continues to think we are social distancing is clearly one of those idiots who hasn't left their home for 13 months.

Just look at the explosion in the number of covid fines during this last 'lockdown'. People are pretty much ignoring it, apart from a little mask usage here and there. And the fact we've got practically fuck all cases and deaths illustrates how much better shape we are in compared to those fucking morons across the continent.
